Here is the important distinction: that Neuro Processor is a chip, not your brain. It cleans the signal, but the signal still travels through a damaged cochlea, where hearing loss has changed the firing patterns your brain reads. The recent previous flagship, a rechargeable receiver-in-canal device giving up to around 51 hours on a charge, on an AI Neuro Processor. It does the detection well, inside the same two-stage approach.
Starkey's custom invisible line, formerly SoundLens, made in its renowned Minnesota lab and among the best true invisible-in-canal devices available, in completely-in-canal and a true IIC fit. Because the smallest sizes are so tiny, they are non-wireless. It places a discreet signal at the ear that the programme then trains your brain to read.
Launched in 2023 and now a couple of generations back, Genesis AI is still a full prescription option across the complete style range, including a true IIC. It does the detection well, inside the same two-stage approach.

Starkey's technologies serve one aim: getting the cleanest possible signal to your brain. That is the brand's real strength, and only the first half of the job.
The Neuro Processor and Edge Mode
Starkey's Neuro Processor runs a deep neural network trained on millions of sound environments, with an on-demand Edge Mode boost. The crucial point is that this neural network is a chip processing sound before your ear, not your auditory brain. Cleaning the signal is detection; decoding it through a damaged cochlea is stage two.
Connectivity, tinnitus support and waterproofing
Most Starkey models offer Bluetooth LE Audio, Auracast and Google Fast Pair, the My Starkey app, TeleHear remote adjustments, rechargeability and tinnitus masking. Most receiver-in-canal and in-the-ear models are IP68 rated, water-resistant to around a metre, though the smallest Signature devices are non-wireless and not waterproof. All of it manages the signal; none of it decodes it.
Health and wellness features
Uniquely among the brands, Starkey devices can offer fall detection, activity and step tracking, respiratory rate, Balance Builder and language translation through the My Starkey app. Genuine wellness extras some patients appreciate, but separate from the core hearing task: they do not help your brain decode sound, which is still stage two.

It draws on neuroplasticity, with real-ear measurement at the fitting and continued follow-up.
The chip processes the sound; the programme retrains the brain. Stage one and stage two together, which is why we never sell a device as complete hearing care on its own.

Do I need the Brain-based hearing programme as well as Starkey aids?
